Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 4/13/14

The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging this week between 71 and 75 degrees. We have had a challenging couple of weeks of fishing due to the winds, but still have managed to lock into some nice fish. Primary targets have been Speckled Sea Trout on the outside flats and grassy areas, along with Redfish on the oyster bars of the outside barrier island shorelines and the mangroves in the nearshore river areas. Snook are on the move from the back country into the near coastal river areas and shore areas. Best bet for the Snook has been both live pilchards and also live shrimp under popping corks. Tarpon are showing on some of the flats. We have hooked into some just by chance while fishing for Trout.  Bonnet head and black tip sharks are hitting near shore and prove to be a lot of fun on light spin tackle. Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 3/12/14

The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging this week between 74 and 76 degrees. Our primary targets are currently Speckled Sea Trout on the flats and Redfish on the oyster bars, both on the outside barrier island shorelines and the mangroves in the nearshore river areas. We have had some windy days where the water has been stirred up on the outside which proved to make the Trout fishing challenging, but on the days when the water is clear, the trout bite has been fantastic. Redfish have been on the move between the inside rivers and outside islands so moving around locating them has been the best bet. We have seen some big schools of large Black Drum and a few of our charters have had awesome days catching 30lb drum on light tackle. Sheepshead are still around in decent numbers. Several of our charters were pleasantly surprised to hook up with some huge Tarpon as we fish the flats for Trout. Bonnet head and black tip sharks are hitting near shore and prove to be a lot of fun on light spin tackle. Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 2/16/14

The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging this week between 65 and 70 degrees. We are still catching a lot of nice Sheepshead offshore on rocky areas and in the deeper pockets in the river mouths on live shrimp. Black Drum have been around and we have been catching some of them on most trips. On a  few trips this past week we have caught some very large Goliath Grouper offshore. Redfish catches have been a little on the lite side but we are getting some here and there. The Speckled Sea Trout bite has been good in the back country rivers. Both Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish are around in good numbers and make for a lively catch. We have also been catching some good Bonnethead Sharks, Jack Crevelle, Ladyfish, Mangrove Snapper, and more.  Isn't it time you got out and experienced some of the best fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida?
