Hi, my name is Captain Pete Rapps. Each spring (April, May, and June) I offer Tarpon fishing charters and tarpon trips at the Bahia Honda Bridge area of Big Pine Key, FL.  During this time of year, Tarpon schools are Thick!  Pre and post spawn Tarpon gather in huge schools each Spring.  They come hungry and chances of hooking up are near 100%.

Within 5 minutes from the time we push off, you are casting and fishing for these mammoth fish.  The fight of a giant Tarpon is a true battle, and an experience of a lifetime.  Tarpon are strictly catch and release sport fish, and the satisfaction of releasing a fully revived healthy fish, is almost better than the battle itself.

Captain Rapps and his first class guides consistently catch more Tarpon at the Bahia Honda Bridge area each spring than any one else!

Because of our success, we have been asked by Bruce Ungar from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospherice Science, to help out with the Atlantic Tarpon Satellite Tagging prorgram.

We also supply the Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) and Mote Marine Laboratory with more Tarpon DNA samples than any other charter service in the area.

We can handle any just about any size group, from just one person and one captain,

to large groups needing multiple boats & captains.

Our fishing times and amount of passengers are flexible. We can fish just about any time you want. Captain Rapps' personal boat fishes up to 3 passengers, however we have boats that hold up to 5.  Please contact Capt Rapps today to customize your trip and make your dream come true!

4 Hour Morning Tarpon Trip = $450

Approx 7:00am - 11:00am

4 Hour Evening Tarpon Trip = $450

Approx 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Tips: Tipping your captain for good service is customary in the charter business,
and is most certainly appreciated. Typically it's about the same as gratuity for good service in a restaurant.

How to Reserve Your Trip:

Please don't wait till the last minute - Even though we have several captains in addition to Captain Rapps, we typically "Sell out" way in advance. Be sure to book as far as possible in advance to reserve the dates you would like to fish.  It is not uncommon for us to have bookings for several months ahead.  Please feel free to book online, send an email using the form on the contact page, or call so we can discuss available dates.  If your schedule allows, let me look at the tide charts,  weather patterns, moon phase, and several other factors to give you the best scenario to fulfill your dream.

WHERE TO STAY

PARMERS RESORT is on Little Torch Key and comes highly recommended from my customers and is just 10 minutes to the marina.

BANANA BAY RESORT is in Marathon. It is about a  20 minute drive from the resort to the dock, but worth it if you are looking for a nice place to stay.

BIG PINE KEY MOTEL will probably suffice if you just want a roof over your head. It is just 10 minutes to the dock from here.

Little Palm Island Resort is the best of the best if you want luxury on a private island

Items you should bring :

• Food & Drinks - Captain will provide cooler and Ice

• Rain gear
• Non-Skid boat shoes  (no marking soles please)

* Please keep your items to a minimum as space is very limited

Deposits, Cancellations & Payment

A deposit of $100 is required to book your charter.

Fishing is totally dependent on full cooperation from Mother Nature.  We like to keep a close eye on weather and keep you informed on  weather forecasts.  Captain Rapps does occasionally have to cancel trips due to inclement weather. If Capt. Rapps cancels, the customer will for sure receive a full refund.

If the customer cancels the trip with at least a 7 day notice, they will receive a full refund.
A customer who is a 'no show', or does not give at least a 7 day notice, will however, forfeit their deposit.
